The Fulton County Planning Department (FCPD) is responsible for serving as Policy Advisor to the Fulton County Board of Supervisors, planning, designing and administering Fulton County and Fulton Montgomery Community College's capital construction projects, supporting the Fulton County Center for Regional Growth , Fulton County Industrial Development Agency and the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce along with others in promoting economic development in Fulton County.
The FCPD is also responsible in overseeing the development of the Tryon Technology Park and Incubator Center , the development of County water and sewer systems and managing the day to day operations of the Fulton County Airport.
The FCPD assists local municipalities with developing comprehensive plans, administering local land use programs like zoning, subdivision regulations, site plan reviews and others.
The FCPD is the primary department for applying and administering State and Federal Grants and disseminating Census, flood hazard and wetlands information.
The FCPD also assists the County's agricultural community though overseeing Fulton County Agricultural District No. 1 and providing staff support to the County's Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board and the Fulton Farm Bureau .
The FCPD is responsible for operating, managing and administering Fulton County's GPS, CAD and unmanned aerial vehicle programs.
The FCPD is responsible for overseeing the County’s Tourism Program through the Fulton County Visitor’s Bureau.
